see you then

In the parting of two lives,
a day when humanity shall cease,
our minds confront the utmost dread,
- the void of nonexistence.

Why, when all troubles have seeped way,
does this fear persist within?
For in absolute silence and serene peace,
we find ourselves scared.

Terrified to envision such a fate,
where sensation fades eternally.
When do we decide, "enough"?
Or when, universe, shall you deem it so?

- of our anguish and relentless strife,
that we continue to torture your canvas.
Yet you persevere,
giving us another chance.

Because you love us, don’t you?
That's the sole belief I can embrace,
as you ride the endless wave,
each day anew, unwavering.

As I’m sure, in pain, you discern beauty -
and in the unending cycles of your being,
you discover ambition to persist.

Someday, you too shall relent,
no longer able to give.
Until then, I hope you will find forgiveness in each hurdle,
And continue to offer your very best.
